Correction: The Cliffs of Moher :)

Sarah Speaking:

So I've slept with earplugs since starting college, as most of you know, and I always wake up to my alarm. But two mornings ago, I apparently (according to Carolyn who was sleeping right across from me), heard the alarm go off, opened it, shut it off, and went right back to sleep :) So she doesn't wake me up because she thinks I just want a little more time to sleep, and we wake up an hour later a miss breakfast...which is free...you don't pass up free food here! Even if it is just tea and bread with jelly! Shoot! So then last night, I give the alarm to Katie and say it's her responsibility to get us up, and we had to be to a tour at 10, so we couldn't sleep through it this morning. Katie is a new wearer of ear plugs, I think that's the only way to get sleep in a 10 bed room in a hostel with people coming in at all different times of the night. So apparently (again according to Carolyn who was sleep right below her) the alarm went off, and Katie slept right through it :) Luckily, I woke up at 8:30 and we weren't late :)

We went to the Cliffs of Moher today, which is basically (according to my friend Kelly Smithers ;) the picture on the postcards that you see when you see Ireland. They were beautiful. And the bus ride went through the Burren, which is the rocky landscape that is characteristic of Ireland, and it was so neat to learn about the history behind all of the castles and tombs that had been standing there for thousands of years. It rained when we got to the cliffs, but that didn't dampen spirits in seeing it. Very worth the money we payed to take the tour. And it was really funny, on the bus ride back I think the busdriver had a cd in or something, but it was all of these different songs of different genres sang by an Irish singer with Irish instruments. So picture the songs "closer I am to fine", "Pave paradise and put up a parking lot", and "I would walk 1000 miles" all sang like an Irish song...it was pretty funny to listen to :)

We got back here and made pasta which we had picked up at the grocery store last night, and ate a lot...so I'm very full right now. But again, when there's food there, I'm going to eat it on this trip :) Carolyn isn't feeling very well :(, so she's upstairs lying down...we're all kinda tired, so I think we'll shower and play some games tonight :)

WOW! Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself that we're really here...I'm in Ireland! It's very green and I love their music and Irish accents :) Dublin tomorrow, then on to Brussels on the 27th! Then begins the rest of the summer!

Thanks for listening...miss you all! Love from Ireland!

Is there a way to upload pictures onto the blog? They would be cool to see. I remember the castles were one of my favorite parts. I especially remember the tour where they pointed out the toities that just let your, uh, stuff go down the side of the castle into the water. How civilized ;)

Sarah... you rock. I'm glad to hear that you related to what I was getting at and even happier to hear that you are having a great time while experiencing life.

So you have to do me a favor as I am super jealous that you are in Ireland (it's like top 4 on my list of places in Europe I want to visit). You have to go to a pub somewhere and drink some Guiness! Mr. Molesky always told us it was "statistically" the best tasting beer out there, and I have come to the conclusion that he was right, and so I've always wanted to actually drink Guiness in Ireland!

Get it on tap... let it sit for a while before you drink it, try to avoid drinking the head, because it's gross... but the rest seriously tastes like a milkshake :-)

Actually... some better advice would be to just ask an Irish person "what's the proper way to drink Guiness?"... I know they like it warm :-/... who knows, maybe it's amazing like that.

Anyways, it's a must-do when you are in Ireland... seriously. If you are not a big drinker you could seriously order 1 and just share it amongst the three/two? of you.

Anywho... even if I don't comment, just know I'm reading all of your posts and look forward to all of your updates... and listen to your man and load up some pictures of these beautiful places you are seeing (a picture is worth...)

Matt

P.S.- If you need help with the uploading pictures thing, let me know. There's also a web album thing that google has you could use to upload pictures online as well as having them in your blog.

Also... Irish Car-Bombs are REALLY good... it's Bailey's Irish Creme and Jameson Irish Whiskey in a shot glass that you drop into a half glass of Guiness and chug.

BUT... the thought just occured to me that if you go into an Irish pub and order an Irish Car-Bomb, you will probably get beaten up.

So nevermind... some other time.

Matthew Canova,How the heck are you and what are your doing giving my girls all that drinking advise? Girls, pictures would be nice but you both have to be in them even though we'll see you in the same old clothes :) Jordan call if you're not doing anything and want to eat, just so I don't make the girls feel bad all we're eating till then return are peanut butter and sometimes jelly sandwiches - my favorite - NOT MISS MY GIRLS

uh oh... :)

I'm doing great... obviously a lot different than when you last saw me :) but doing better than ever.

As far as drinking advice... it's all about the cultural experience! And it's approved by Lakeville High School faculty :)

I would never recommend they do anything dangerous... I think if the 2/3 of them share 1 pint of Guiness they will be a-ok... but I would, of course, tell them to listen to their parents before they listen to me :) (Katie is 21, right?)

Yes, and you have to be in the pictures... beautiful scenery and beautiful girls go well together...

Sounds like your trip is off to a great start. We are really enjoying reading about all your adventures and as everyone has mentioned - pictures please! :) Max especially enjoyed the story about Katie waking up at 10pm and thinking it was 10am. He really got a kick out of that. We are in Atlanta this weekend and he thinks we should be blogging about our trip but it is far less exotic than yours - the highlights so far have been room service and the mall. Keep writing. Can't wait to see what happens next, especially with the Guiness situation. :)

ha ha , my ladies!

I had been slightly anxious to hear some news about how the both of you are,

cuz i've ben thinking about you two pretty often.

Ireland, wow.
cmon, Pictures, pictures! But i understand that uploading pictures, at this time, can get pretty spendy when yer getting "pounded" by the minute . . . , oh, we're patient.
Will you ladies be going up into the Northern Isle ?

and, and! that 1st-experience hostel story (katie's living her dream ) is Memorable! Laughable. Ha ha!
Sarah, make sure and keep the blinds open, and keep a bucket of cold water next to your bed ("katie, wake up!").

Love you girls.
no cease in prayer

I think the Irish car bomb may be a little sketchy when you're actually in Ireland. Probably a good call to not ask for one of those. And Phillis, I'll be by soon for dinner. And we can make something delicious, that girls won't mind ;)
